An Hour in the Caucasus - Home

New Features

Hey everyone,

A couple of points:

  1. I've tweaked the site a little, as you may have already noticed.  Instead of having everything running down this main page, I created different pages for Broadcasts, Contact, Text Interviews and Advocacy.
  2. I've replaced the boring old textbook map at the top of the page with an interactive one.  You may have noticed that there are icons on it, across the region.  This map exists to keep a record of the violence and human rights violations across the North Caucasus in 2011.  I will update it regularly (which obviously, I hope will not be everyday) with the latest reports that I find in my research.

One important note about the map: You may notice that there are two distinct icons for "Shootings" and "Crimes" even though some of the events with "Crime" icons are in fact shootings.  The difference between the two is that the "Crimes" are used for attacks against civilians, which have always been and will always be brutal and condemable crimes.
